inHEALTH Inc. ("inHEALTH") respects the privacy of all visitors and subscribers to our website ("the Site"). The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to disclose inHEALTH's privacy practices. inHEALTH's business and the Site are not directed at anyone under the age of 18.

inHEALTH reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time with modifications applied on a prospective basis only. Please check this page regularly for any modifications or updates.

Gathering of Personal Information

inHEALTH collects Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") as required to operate our business, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Information we receive related to claim handling, such as the claimant's occupation, employer, SIN and driver's license numbers, protected health information ("PHI", as further defined below), non-public personal financial information ("NPFI" as further defined below), and Trade Secrets (as defined below);
  • Information related to your transactions with us or previous insurers or employers, such as your policy coverage, claim information, premiums, and payment and claim history;
  • Information necessary to process your employment application with us;
  • Information to better understand your needs as they relate to inHEALTH's products and services; and
  • Other PII as required by our business operations or the Site.

"PHI" is defined as individually identifiable health information that is held or transmitted by our company in performance of our contractual obligations with clients. This type of information includes information in electronic, paper, and oral form.

"NPFI" is defined as information of a financial nature that is shared by a current, prospective, or prior client with us in the course of providing products and services to that client. This type of information is not otherwise available to the public and includes, but is not limited to, the following: credit history, financial benefits, national identifiers, account numbers, business records, accounting information involving the client, contracts in which the client is a party, claims which the client is a party to, client's policy information, and any other data of the client that is financial in nature.

"Trade Secrets" are defined to include any proprietary information of any current, prospective, or prior client that is obtained through the course of our business activities with that client or through the provision of products and services provided by us to the client. This type of information is not otherwise available to the public and includes, but is not limited to, the following: business records, contracts, claims, products, business methods, data processing procedures, marketing strategies, pending projects or proposals, mailing lists, and any other information related to a client's activities, products, or services, which may or may not be protected or protectable under applicable patent laws.

Disclosure of Personal Information

inHEALTH's policy is to collect, process, and disclose sensitive PII only if required to comply with legal or contractual obligations, or with your consent. Sensitive PII includes PHI, information about racial or ethnic origin; political views or opinions; religious, philosophical, or moral beliefs, sexual preference, habits, or behavior; genetic information; and labour union membership.

Such PII, including voluntarily submitted information by visitors to the Site, is never sold or rented to third parties outside of inHEALTH.

The majority of information is disclosed or transferred solely to our instructing principals. However, in order to collect the information required by our principals to provide claim or risk services, we may disclose personal information to third party service providers. This would include (but not limited to) insured's, insurance brokers, insurance adjusters, automobile repair companies, contractors, construction companies, investigators, engineers, accountants, lawyers, and others. We may also disclose personal information to authorities with jurisdiction such as Fire Departments, Fire Marshals, Police and other Federal, Provincial or Municipal authorities for the purposes of verifying the circumstances surrounding a claim. We obtain consent to disclosure when required. Consent may also be inferred where appropriate. If an instructing principal advises us that they have their client's consent to disclose information, we will rely on our instructing principals' advice. Where inHEALTH discloses personal information to an approved investigative body (such as the Insurance Crime Prevention Bureau) or when we believe that the information relates to the breach of an insurance policy or other agreement or Canadian law, or where we are required by law to disclose the information, consent may not be obtained. Similarly, if personal information is disclosed to a lawyer for claims purposes or to obtain legal advice, consent may not be obtained.

Storing of Personal Information

Personal information recorded in documents is securely stored at inHEALTH'S office. Electronically recorded information is stored on computer systems maintained by inHEALTH. These computer systems and the information stored in them are protected by electronic security systems. inHEALTH restricts access to personal information and inHEALTH employees, contractors and representatives are under obligation to access personal information only when they have a legitimate business need to do so. inHEALTH employees receive training with respect to proper personal information handling practices and they are under obligation to comply with the privacy laws, this policy and related codes of conduct.

If you have provided us with your email address, whether by registering on the Site or by any other means, we may use this information to contact you, or to identify the pages you view when you visit our sites, the amount of time you spent on them, and other similar data.

We may contact you in response to your comments or inquiries, as part of the maintenance of your account with us (if you have one), or in order to complete a transaction that you requested. We may also contact you to inform you of other products or services we believe may be of interest to you, but we will offer you an opportunity not to receive such communications.
